The Opportunity
Reporting to the executive leadership team, the Finance Manager will act as a trusted business partner across the organisation, providing strategic financial guidance, commercial insights and leadership to support informed decision-making and organisational performance.
This is a broad and influential role combining financial planning and analysis, business partnering, management reporting, governance and team leadership. You will work closely with operational leaders to drive financial performance while ensuring resources are aligned to the organisation's strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process across multiple business units and centres
- Develop financial models, scenario analysis and business cases to support strategic initiatives and investment decisions
- Provide insightful reporting, variance analysis and performance commentary to senior leadership and the Board
- Partner with operational leaders to improve financial understanding, accountability and decision-making
- Monitor key performance indicators including enrolments, occupancy, staffing and profitability metrics
- Oversee month-end reporting processes, financial controls and audit coordination
- Support funding submissions, grant applications and tender processes through robust financial analysis
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance systems, reporting and processes
- Lead and develop finance team members while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
- Ensure compliance with relevant funding agreements, governance frameworks and organisational policies
About You
You are a proactive and commercially astute finance professional who enjoys building relationships and influencing outcomes across an organisation.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline
- CA or CPA qualification (or close to completion)
- Demonstrated experience in a Finance Manager, Senior Finance Business Partner or similar leadership role
- Strong financial planning and analysis capabilities, including budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling
- Experience preparing executive and board-level reporting
- Sound technical accounting knowledge, including month-end reporting, controls and audit management
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong financial systems capability
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical business insights
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
Highly Regarded
- Experience within the not-for-profit, community services or government-funded sectors
- Exposure to workforce management and payroll systems
- Understanding of funding models and compliance frameworks in service-based environments
