CTO Flat Europe Expert - Sinter Plants and Raw Material Yards
Role Purpose
The CTO Flat Europe Expert for Sinter Plants and Raw Material Yards is the recognized expert within Flat Europe for the sinter plant and raw material yard domain.
The role provides technical expertise and support to the plants with the objective of improving operational performance, strengthening process safety and contributing to the long-term sustainability of installations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Expertise and Plant Support
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of production units' performance in order to identify and propose improvement plans.
- Apply production and manufacturing process expertise to support operational performance improvement.
- Mobilize maintenance and R&D expertise from across the organization to address operational challenges.
- Support plants through on-site assignments.
- Organize support missions and ensure delivery within agreed timelines.
- Lead the Sinter Agora, defining and driving its work agenda with the approval of the department heads.
- Act as a recognized technical authority within the sinter community.
- Influence and inspire stakeholders without formal hierarchical authority.
- Proactively identify issues and propose appropriate solutions.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the management chain within both the plants, up to COO level, and the CTO organization.
- Work autonomously and independently prioritize activities and initiatives.
Process Safety
- Act as the Process Safety expert within the sinter domain.
- Facilitate Bow-Tie workshops to identify and define the barriers required to prevent risks from occurring or to minimize their consequences.
- Advise plants on the implementation of these barriers.
- Evaluate deviations from established standards (red flags).
- Conduct audits.
- Support plants in prioritizing corrective actions.
Strategy and Investment Planning
- Contribute to the development of the vision and strategic plans for the sinter domain.
- Work with plants to define multi-year investment plans aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of installations.
- Support investment planning related to machinery, structures, and conveyor systems within raw material yard operations.
- Participate actively with project teams in the definition and execution of capital investment projects in accordance with the CIPM methodology.
- Represent CTO during the key project milestone reviews defined within the CIPM methodology.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Operational Experience at sinter plants (process, operation).

- Develop and maintain an ArcelorMittal technology strategy fully encompassing all functional capabilities of Digitalization technologies

- Capitalizing on the inherent strengths of the Twinning concept help to assure that a system is in place to develop, assist in implementation and report out on actions to close gaps to benchmark
