Data specialist is required to take on data management responsibilities for an Asset Management Company, ranging from data acquisition to storage, and governance. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody looking to put their own stamp on the data solution, in what is a green field cloud infrastructure undertaking. Reporting to the IT Manager, the candidate should have the following skillset, and would be aiming to grow into the role and take ownership of data solution as the organisation grows.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Help design and build the data architecture (data acquisition and storage)
  • Build for operational fitness to ensure quality performance of databases
  • Implements database security regulations, policies, and guidelines
  • Pro-actively monitors security to obtain information of potential threats
  • Key point of escalation for data governance and data quality issues
  • Develop solutions to industry, regulatory and company standards
  • Understanding of the need for governance, risk, security, and compliance
  • Ensure compliance with data related policies
  • Ability to work closely with business users, technical resources, external data vendors
  • Willingness to assist with more general IT project work where required

Essential Skill

  • Five or more years of experience in database design or maintenance
  • Experience working with database and system maintenance procedures / performance tuning
  • Experience with database creation techniques and database management systems (DBMS) features
  • General knowledge of IT infrastructure and software installation / upgrading procedures
  • Good stored procedure development / scripting skills
  • Strong Data Analysis and Data Mapping skills
  • Scripting (Python)
  • Implementation of Data Quality Rule Checks, Alerts and Breaks
  • Automation of data handling over SFTP
  • Knowledge of ETL processes & Data Acquisition (SFTP)
  • Good communication skills
  • Work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Knowledge of Investment & Risk Data
  • Knowledge of Vendor Data formats & delivery mechanisms

Desirable Skill

  • Experience or knowledge of BI reporting dashboards such as PowerBI a plus
  • Data Visualization Tools & Techniques
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite from an End User Compute perspective
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server, Client Operating Systems, Active Directory and LAN/WAN/wireless technologies
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Azure & Office 365
