This senior leadership position will drive the organization's financial operations and improve financial performance providing strategic advice and support to the Managing Director and the boards of directors. The successful candidate will act as an advisor to the business, providing insight and guidance to value creation and leading the technological change of the function to enhance processes supporting data driven decision making. She/he will be reporting to the Managing Director and will be a key member of the senior executive team.

As such she/he must have a proven ability to be both a team player and constructively challenge fellow senior executive team members. She/he must be leading her/his team maintaining on-going engagement and translating the overall business objectives in a clear strategy with actions and deliverables for the team.

The Finance Director role will include supervising accounting staff, overseeing internal controls (including Sarbanes-Oxley Act type of standards), setting financial targets, developing financial strategy, conducting feasibility studies, monitoring expenditure, evaluating investments, and managing tax compliance. She/he must have proven financial planning and analysis competencies coupled with experience in implementing effective financial strategies, improving revenue, maintaining a healthy financial position, and maintaining high shareholders confidence.

This is a highly challenging and demanding role, which requires excellent analytical skills, strong strategic thinking/vision, strong communication skills, exceptional numerical proficiency, and excellent management and leadership skills.

Principal Duties of the position, including but not limited to:

  • Overall responsibility for the finance function, ensuring that all goals are achieved and strategic direction is provided to drive performance excellence
  • Direct financial planning and strategy partnering with the Managing Directors to drive implementation of the firm’s strategic objectives
  • Identify and lead initiatives to continuously improve, automate, and scale forecasting and reporting tools, processes, and methodologies with the objective to enhance decision making in terms of quality of information and speed in delivery
  • Drive the people and talent agenda to build a leading Finance Function with appropriate skills and capability
  • Analyse and report on financial performance, own and drive continuous process for financial performance improvement and ensure that all goals are achieved
  • Analyse complex financial data to define and monitor business objectives KPIs and key industry KPIs to benchmark company performance vs competitors
  • Prepare the Company forecasts and comprehensive budgets
  • Own end-to-end partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders with the product development team and Investment function and procurement lead
  • Review departmental budgets, acting as a business advisor and integrator of the total business view while providing insight, challenging and supporting decisions
  • Responsible for the preparation and presentation of accurate financial projections and results to the Board of Directors
  • Lead company accounting and financial management function ensuring that this is underpinned by effective financial controls (including Sarbanes-Oxley Act type of standards)
  • Full responsibility for all financial, regulatory reporting, compliance and taxation matters
  • Manage third party relationships with various partners such as banks, external auditors, legal firms, and various Mediolanum Group relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure accounting policies and practices comply with relevant accounting standards
  • Understand, assess and mitigate key elements of the company's financial risk profile
  • Ensure the companies solvency capital meets its capital requirements at all time

The Candidate

  • Minimum 10-15 years PQE gained in a senior finance management position with relevant sector experience
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified
  • Leadership Competencies: Vision, Credibility, Accountability, Communication
  • Experience in business intelligence and working with analytics to support data driven decision making and implementation of automations
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience in implementing organisational business strategy
  • Strong knowledge of cost management
  • Excellent Experience in Financial analysis and planning
  • Ability to effectively manage, lead and motivate other supervisory personnel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to influence and align at all levels
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience working as part of a senior management team.
  • Strong accounting background.
  • Proven experience in major change management /transformation programmes
  • Helpful to have knowledge of asset management products and services
