The Investment Oversight Group is the focal point in the EMEA region for impartial oversight, challenge and supervision of investment products (mutual and exchange traded funds), their ongoing management, performance, ensuring alignment with BlackRock's client fiduciary principles. In its 1st line of defence capacity, Investment Oversight oversees the implementation of policy, strategy and performance, and the investment platform on which products are managed. We ensure the delivery, maintenance and development of appropriately constituted and managed products, subject to ongoing rigour of oversight and meeting the expectations of the fund Boards and regulators.

Investment Oversight - Analyst (Dublin)

This role has responsibility for Investment Management monitoring, analysis, governance and reporting across fixed income, equity and multi-asset strategies, whilst ensuring that a robust framework of management information, governance data and records to support this are maintained, validated and enhanced. This includes continuous development of fund specification documentation in support of Investment Oversight's supervisory approach.

As the successful candidate develops and progresses in the role they will gain opportunity for exposure across the business, including investment management and governance groups, whilst working to support senior members of the Investment Oversight team to whom they will be assigned.

A key initial duty is ensuring that the periodic internal and board reporting generated for review is well-formulated, meaningful, appropriately considered and verified, that policies and procedures are appropriately documented and followed, and respective oversight activities including daily and periodic monitoring are carried out.

The role anticipates the candidate developing their capabilities for regular presentation and communication at board and internal committee level in presenting analysis for discussion and consideration. The candidate will also engage in multi-departmental participation in product development and design.

The successful candidate will participate in maintaining and developing the Dublin Investment Management function's recordkeeping program, ensuring preparedness for review in line with regulatory thematic initiatives; additionally sourcing data and supplying reports as required to satisfy internal and external ad hoc enquiry.

The role envisages rotation of responsibilities and portfolio focus over time to ensure holistic and versatile knowledge and capability development across BlackRock's investment management platform, strategy models and asset classes.

Further to the above core functions of this position, it is expected that the candidate will have opportunity to develop their competencies in governance topics, with impact across the regional Investment Oversight EMEA model championed from Dublin in regards of common products, projects and governance. initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

• Actively participating in decisions to champion our clients' interests and assist the business to translate the highest fiduciary standards into their daily work

• Generate, maintain and review investment strategy guideline database across the range of funds, applying those guidelines to their oversight and governance, including the sustainable /ESG characteristics.

• Resolution of investment guideline escalations and queries, engaging with the key stakeholders from Legal & Compliance, Investment and Regulatory Risk, Operations, Portfolio Management and other teams

• Participate in the product development lifecycle from initial concept through to launch, and oversee the fund investment profile thereafter

• Sourcing, validation and analysis of fund data, preparation of presentations and reporting for BlackRock governance bodies

• Support oversight of delegated Investment Management function and Designated Person for Investment Management

• Develop knowledge of asset management and applicable regulations and understand their application and impact on fund ranges under team's oversight, industry and markets

Experience
  • Our ideal candidate will have at least two years' experience within a leading professional service firm or at an investment/fund manager and will have gained expertise in financial supervisory regimes (AIFMD, UCITS) and related regulations including practical translation into internal framework and policies
  • Experienced in policy and performance analysis of fixed income, equity and multi-asset investment strategies including their practical implementation, instruments, utilisation of derivatives, leverage, hedging, investment and regulatory risk concepts; demonstrable interest in current markets, fund concepts, regulatory themes application
  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record of strong execution, partnership and relationship management skills with the ability to engage successfully with stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • A highly-motivated and pro-active self-starter, the successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, excellent technical, market and regulatory knowledge, strong team ethic, combined with high energy, enthusiasm, resilience, tenacity and diplomacy
  • A high appetite for learning and development is essential
  • Relevant qualifications and experience include those related to regulatory and investment risk, sustainable investing, financial analysis, investment product management, fund compliance or financial markets, supported by practical experience
  • Proven track record of strong prioritisation and time management skills; ability to manage multiple requirements and deliver outcomes in line with expectations
  • Excellent communication and reporting capabilities - ability to interpret financial data and clearly articulate at all levels, including portfolio managers, fund directors, external auditors, senior management
  • High competency in MS Excel and PowerPoint to produce high quality insightful analysis is a pre-requisite; Python and Aladdin experience is an advantage.
  • Fluent professional English language is required
