Role Purpose:

The Senior Technical Specialist - Application Support is responsible for playing a role in the production support team, working on multiple external clients at one time and ensuring all solutions adhere to the highest technical and process standards and meet client needs. This role will produce critical and business-as-usual (BAU) fixes, interventions and solutions that are essential to our business and to our client's financial performance.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Play a lead role in developing, testing and implementing programs for new and existing systems, to pre- agreed timelines adhering to all project development methodologies and standards of business area.
  • Manage and lead the investigation, resolution, testing and oversight on critical and BAU issues.
  • Proactively identify potential risks with solutions and work to deploy fixes across all clients.
  • Become a point of escalation for you key client and manage expectations around solutions, errors, interventions and system availability.
  • Coordinate planning activities involved in estimating project delivery, including impact analysis, scooping of new projects and estimating project development tasks.
  • Act as an expert in all design, code reviews, lessons learned and issue prevention
  • Play a lead role in the testing of overall system solution, monitoring defects and implementing corrective actions as required.
  • Provide training and mentoring to other team members as required.
  • Learn and develop new skills/ technologies as they emerge and keep up to date with developments in the industry.
  • Any other duties as assigned by you manager.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant risk and regulatory requirements; proactively highlight any risks so that mitigating actions can be taken. Manage and maintain a risk log for your client(s).
  • If you have people responsibilities oversee the activities of direct reports to ensure a high performing, well-motivated and developed team which delivers the required results.
  • If you have budgetary responsibilities monitor and manage local expenditure to ensure value for money is achieved and that budgets are managed responsibly. Commercial awareness is essential to avoid negative impact to IPSI bottom line.


Criteria For Role:
  • IT Degree or equivalent , or relevant business or technical experience
  • Expert in required programming languages
  • Strong Experience in financial services, preferably life assurance.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical language
  • Strong knowledge of languages, databases, environments etc.
  • Multi skilled and capable of working in many different parts of the SDLC at the same time.
  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Ideally 3+ years working within the financial services sector
  • Preferably 7+ years relevant IT development experience


Knowledge and Skills:
  • Must have proven support experience in Cloas either on mainframe or .NET framework.
