Solar Market Analyst

The Role: S&P Global Commodity Insights is looking for a Solar Analyst to join our Clean Energy Technology research team. The analyst will work alongside a broad range of cleantech industry analysts developing independent and granular solar market outlooks for supply chain and downstream markets.

The Team: The analyst will support the rapidly growing and successful Clean Energy Technology team which comprises a wide range of cleantech energy experts located across various locations in Europe, China, India and the United States. The research team analyzes policy, supply chain technology and commodity trends and assesses their impact on solar market alongside other cleantech industries such as batteries, energy storage, carbon sequestration, hydrogen and wind markets.

What's in it for you: The successful candidate will be keen to apply strong analytical and communication skills to developing a deep understanding of the fast-paced solar industry, realizing valuable relationships with existing and potential clients, and producing high quality in-depth reports to support the critical business decisions of our customers.

Responsibilities

• Collect, manage and analyse market data to track and identify market trends in the solar industry
• Create high quality quantitative and quality market reports analyzing the status and outlook for the solar industry
• Work with a large and global analyst team to co-ordinate viewpoints and align data and forecasts
• Develop excellent relationships with companies involved in solar industry to better understand their perspectives, views, opinions and needs as well as present to them our views, forecasts and advice
• Write and distribute regular research notes that analyse latest news and developments in the solar industry to both clients and press
• Support client requests by providing quick and comprehensive answers to questions about research findings. On-site and by phone presentations are regularly required
• Work with our global sales and marketing teams to promote our research, and support client renewals to ensure commercial targets are met

What We're Looking For:

• 1-2 years experience in market analysis; directly related experience within the solar or energy storage industry is preferred, but not essential
• Ability to effectively manage projects and product lines
• Knowledge of MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); experience with databases highly preferred
• Good oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Organization skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Contributes to the research agenda
• Relevant University degree (Bachelors or equivalent)
• Graduate degree highly desirable
• Some occasional domestic and international travel may be required
