We currently have a vacancies for Statistical Data Analysts on contracts of indefinite duration in the Statistics Division. These roles are aligned with the Bank Professional 3 grade and the BP3 salary scale applies. Please click here for further information on our salary scales.

It is important to us that our people have flexibility in their role and we will shortly transition to a hybrid working model where they can balance their time between working from home and our office.

The Statistical Data Analyst roles are responsible for statistical compilation, data processes and analysis on data collected on the Irish financial sector, which comprises assets of almost €8 trillion, reflecting Ireland’s position as a significant channel for global financial flows. A position exists within both the Funds & Special Purpose Entities team and the Insurance Corporations & Pensions Funds team. These positions contribute significantly to the development of enhanced ECB and national statistical requirements, ensuring that quality standards are adhered to in compliance with statutory reporting obligations, management of the team’s multiple stakeholders and entails staff mentoring and management responsibility.  A panel may be formed from this competition to fill other positions that may arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of data quality standards to ensure the resulting analytical and statistical outputs are sufficiently robust , and that the statutory functions of the Bank and ECB are informed by good quality statistics;
  • Maintain and develop the methodological framework underpinning statistical data collection and associated manuals to ensure statistics outputs adhere to the highest international standards;
  • Collaborate with Economist-Statisticians on in-depth analysis of large datasets to uncover key trends that can be related to wider economic and financial market developments;
  • Work closely with IT and other data intensive areas to roll out the bank’s data strategy and development of current statistical infrastructure to meet ever changing statistical requirements;
  • Deal efficiently with stakeholders including industry, senior Bank management, the Central Statistics Office, other government bodies and ECB.  Promptly resolve any escalated queries and appropriately prioritise ad-hoc queries to ensure efficient delivery of our statistical mandate;
  • Coach and mentor direct reports to ensure they can achieve the required performance standards and meet their own development objectives.
  • Contribute to management of the team in terms of strategic priorities and work plans.  Play an active role in the transfer of skills and knowledge within the team;
  • Contribute to the delivery and provide subject expertise input to data projects as required to ensure the relevant domain expertise are delivered in a timely and effective manner and positively contribute to the project’s successful set-up and implementation.
  • Contribute and/or lead cross-Divisional initiatives, horizontal roles and projects.

Requirements:

  • Honours Master’s Degree (Level 9 on the NFQ) in Data Analytics, Economics, Finance or similar discipline and/or equivalent professional experience;
  • At least three years’ experience in a role analysing large datasets, preferably in an official statistics and/or financial sector environment
  • Strong analytical and technical skills to distil complex information into focused, user-friendly policy-relevant outputs;
  • Proficient in the practical application of SQL, R, Python or similar programming or statistical software;
  • Understanding of, or strong interest in learning about, the international statistical framework and how it interacts with economic theory and understanding financial markets;
  • Strong communication skills to represent the division at internal meetings and the Bank externally;
  • Keen stakeholder focus to manage multiple relationships, both internal and external;
  • Strong team player;
  • Awareness of the contribution of statistics to the mandate of the Central Bank of Ireland.
