Join MetLife's Financial Management Group (FMG), a strategic financial engine driving critical decision-making through financial planning, analysis, and risk management. As a member of the team, you'll be involved in topics including financial reporting, treasury, corporate actuarial, tax, investor relations and mergers and acquisitions. The Opportunity
The Tax Consultant will support the delivery of tax reporting, tax provisioning, and tax compliance activities for Ireland, the UK, and the wider EMEA region. This is a strong development opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond routine tax compliance and gain hands-on exposure to tax accounting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, controls, audit support, and cross-border stakeholder management within a global financial services organisation.
Success in this role requires curiosity, attention to detail, sound judgement, and the confidence to work with colleagues across tax and finance. You'll collaborate closely with the US Tax Team, EMEA Tax Team, EMEA Finance teams, and local country stakeholders in an environment where your contribution will help support accurate reporting, effective governance, and confident decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future
- Contribute to monthly and quarterly tax reporting for US GAAP and Solvency II purposes, including tax provisioning, return-to-provision analysis, risk and control documentation, and use of tax provisioning tools.
- Prepare and analyse tax provision inputs and related disclosures for annual local financial statement filings for key Irish entities, including supporting audit queries and documentation.
- Support Irish and UK corporation tax compliance processes, helping to gather data, review calculations, prepare supporting schedules, and maintain clear audit trails.
- Work with the Regional Tax Manager on local country tax requirements, helping to coordinate inputs, track deliverables, and resolve follow-up questions.
- Participate in monthly and quarterly projection reviews, building insight into how tax forecasts are developed, challenged, and reported.
- Build strong relationships with EMEA Tax, US Tax, Finance, and local country stakeholders through clear communication, reliable delivery, and proactive follow-up.
- Contribute to ad hoc tax projects and process improvements, gaining exposure to a variety of tax, reporting, governance, and finance initiatives across the EMEA region.
- Utilize approved AI tools to improve operational efficiency, reporting, documentation, analysis, and decision support while maintaining appropriate oversight and quality control.
Required Qualifications
- What You Need to Succeed
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant or tax professional, such as AITI, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent, with an interest in developing a career in corporate tax or tax accounting.
- Degree in business, accounting, finance, tax, or another relevant discipline.
- At least 2 years' experience in corporation tax, tax accounting, financial reporting, audit, or a related finance role.
- Strong Excel and systems skills, with the ability to work accurately with financial data, tax schedules, and web-based reporting or provisioning tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to organise work, meet deadlines, document conclusions, and follow through on review comments.
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively with tax, finance, and other internal stakeholders.
- Curiosity, professionalism, and sound judgement, with a willingness to learn and take on a varied mix of recurring processes and project work.
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in insurance, financial services, a multinational group, or a regulated reporting environment.
- Exposure to tax provisioning, statutory accounts, audit support, Solvency II, US GAAP, or corporation tax compliance.
- Experience using tax provisioning tools, financial reporting platforms, or workflow tools.
- Ability to improve processes, strengthen documentation, and make recurring tasks more efficient.
- A proactive, collaborative style and enthusiasm for learning from experienced tax and finance colleagues.
The expected salary range for this position is €55,000-€60,000 Th is role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
