Job Description

Data Officer - Business Application Support

As a Data Officer within the Business Application Support function at EFG, you will play a pivotal role in shaping, managing, and operationalizing the bank's data governance, quality, and usage frameworks.

Acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and IT, you will combine strong data management expertise with business analysis skills to understand, structure, and serve business data needs in an efficient, sustainable, and compliant way.

You will work closely with business users, application support teams, IT, and Compliance to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and regulatory compliance, while maintaining a high level of service to internal users. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact data initiatives in a global, client-centric private banking environment.

Mission

Your mission is to oversee, enhance, and operationalize the management, protection, and value creation of data across EFG's international operations, with a strong focus on business applications and user service.

You will:
  • Act as a key interface between business and IT, gathering, analyzing, and formalizing business data requirements.
  • Ensure continuity of service, stability of data-related processes, and responsiveness to user needs within the application support context.
  • Translate business demands into clear, rationalized, and reusable data solutions to avoid duplication and improve efficiency.
  • Support data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to deliver reliable, consistent, and well-documented datasets to business users.
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of data governance policies, data quality controls, and regulatory compliance (including GDPR and other applicable regulations).
  • Actively support digital transformation initiatives by enabling trusted, well-structured, and easily accessible data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, analyze, and challenge business requirements through structured business analysis approaches.
  • Understand business processes and data usage in order to rationalize and mutualize data demands across teams and regions.
  • Design and support data extraction and ETL processes, ensuring data accuracy, traceability, performance, and proper documentation.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for reporting, analysis, and operational data needs.
  • Monitor, control, and continuously improve data quality, consistency, and integrity across supported applications.
  • Contribute to, document, and enforce data governance standards, data models, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, privacy, and internal control requirements, in close collaboration with Compliance and Risk.
  • Provide a high level of service to users, balancing responsiveness to day-to-day requests with a long-term, sustainable data strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with IT, Compliance, and business units to support production stability, incident resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Success Metrics
  • Business requirements clearly captured, understood, and translated into effective, scalable data solutions.
  • Smooth and reliable operation of data-related services within the application support environment.
  • Rationalized and reusable data assets, reducing redundancy and manual work while improving efficiency.
  • Robust, reliable, and performant data extraction and ETL processes in production.
  • High levels of data quality, integrity, and user satisfaction, measured through feedback and KPIs.
  • Full compliance with relevant data protection and regulatory requirements.
  • Positive feedback and strong collaboration with business users and key stakeholders.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or data support roles, ideally within financial services with minimum of 5 years.
  • Strong business analysis skills, with the ability to engage business users, challenge requirements, and formalize them clearly.
  • Solid experience in data extraction, ETL processes, and SQL.
  • Ability to understand business demands and rationalize and mutualize requirements across teams and locations.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection regulations (GDPR, etc.) and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency with data management tools and platforms (SQL databases, data catalogues, reporting and visualization tools).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Service-oriented mindset with the ability to operate in a production and support environment, managing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, cross-functional, and international environment.

Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience within private banking or wealth management data environments.
  • Familiarity with application support or IT service management (e.g. ITIL principles).
  • Knowledge of data architecture, data flows, and integration patterns.
  • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data stacks.
  • Professional certifications such as CDMP, CIMP, or similar.
  • Fluency in additional languages (especially French or German).
