The Business Risk Officer will be part of the Citi Private Bank's Business and Controls Risk Team (BRC) that has responsibility for first list of defense for the business. This role sits within the Risk & Control organization for APAC Citi Private Bank.
We are looking for risk professionals with relevant wealth industry experience and strong control background.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supporting multiple risk and control programs for the organization including execution and reporting the results to provide global risk management consistency and excellence.
- Works closely with business partners, in particular the Investment Center Heads in both Singapore and Hong Kong and Chief Operating Officer's team on regulatory change management, management of issues, identifies gaps and makes recommendations on improving practices.
- Key risk areas covered include Suitability, OWS, Fraud, Conduct and Culture, and many others that fall into First Line of Defense monitoring.
- Assist in the effective governance and management of risks in the first line of defense, and driving the implementation of risk issues / actions on a timely basis.
- Supports procedural implementation and change management process with Business and Product Teams, Operations and Reporting team to ensure proper governance and controls exist.
- Supports the implementation of the digital monitoring tools that provide quality data for effective monitoring and testing to drive effective results.
- Work with Integration Workstream Leads to execute integration plans for the work stream program, deliverables, and other milestones. Continuously engaging, all relevant Citi stakeholders with appropriate accountability. Escalate any concerns related to program structure and execution, as needed.
- Performs quarterly MCA monitoring reviews, including recommendations on issue findings and enhancements to controls to ensure effective operational risk framework.
- Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision and can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 6 - 8 years relevant work experience in Risk & Controls/Compliance/Audit
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience
- Self-Starter who can work independently and in virtual Teams at Country or Global Level
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to see the big pictures with high attention to critical details
- Knowledge in data analysis and tools will be an asset
