Department Profile:

The mission of the Fusion Resilience Center is to understand, prepare for, respond to, recover and learn from operational threats and incidents that impact the Firm. Fusion provides an integrated and holistic ability to prepare for and deal with a broad landscape of threats which may impact the Firm, from cyber and fraud, to technology incidents, weather, natural disasters, geopolitical unrest, terrorist attacks, and pandemics. The Fusion Resilience Center is tightly coupled with both Technology and Operations, but transcends those boundaries to deliver for both as well as for each of the businesses and the Firm as a whole.

Team Profile:

Morgan Stanley has a key requirement for a Crisis Management specialist in Hong Kong or Singapore to work as part of a global team to support strategic resilience program development and fulfilment of internal and external response operations. The team is focussed on driving continued enhancement to the Firm’s Resilience capabilities to ensure disruptive incidents can be responded to robustly and promptly in alignment with business objectives and regulatory expectations. The function is also responsible for program governance and reporting, and development of a Firm-wide case management tool.

The agenda over the next few years includes continued enhancement to Global Response Operations framework and developing effective metrics to demonstrate business resilience; ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations (e.g. ‘Operational Resilience’).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise during response to regional and global crisis events and coordinate engagement and response of crisis managers
  • Regularly and proactively assess regional/global events or potential incidents which may require the engagement of the Firm’s crisis management program
  • Establish and maintain relationships globally with appropriate partner response teams and business units
  • Manage the regional implementation and maintenance of the Firm’s global crisis management program, processes and procedures
  • Develop and manage the training of regional crisis management teams and other educational efforts for regional crisis managers
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the use of crisis management tools and resources including rapid notification and impact assessment tools
  • Coordinate monthly reporting collation and distribution for program governance and monitoring purposes
  • Engage with senior management and participate in governance committees to effectively deliver the resilience program
  • Actively drive and support local, regional, and globally managed projects
  • Support and participate in 3 rd party vendor testing table-top exercises
  • This role requires some travel within the region


Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years’ experience in crisis management or related field
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills
  • Must be able to interface and coordinate work efficiently and effectively with business partners
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, including ability to articulate complex issues and incorporate feedback, including to Firm senior management
  • Proficiency in crisis management best practices

Skills Preferred:
  • Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRI) certification, Business Continuity Institute (BCI) certification or similar, a plus
