Model Control Specialist

Your role :

Are you interested in model governance and reviewing front-to-back model processes? We are looking for someone like that who can:
  • plan and conduct Model Control Reviews assessing the effectiveness of the control framework governing the front-to-back model process with respect to procedural, operational, and compliance risks along input, processing, and output / reporting components
  • visualize model processes in model process maps
  • summarize results, issues, and necessary remediation measures in written reports, which are shared with senior management and regulators
  • provide guidance and training to stakeholders on qualitative model governance topics
  • drive standards and initiate process improvements in line with regulatory requirements
  • liaise with teams across the bank in various locations including Risk, IT, Treasury, Operations, Finance, and business functions
  • models in scope are mainly material risk models used for US regulatory stress test submissions (including firm-wide risk aggregation / economic capital and stress testing, credit, operational / compliance, market, and treasury / liquidity risk) as well as valuation models

Your team :

You will be working in the Model Control Unit in Zurich, which is part of the global Model Risk Management & Control function with primary responsibility for the Model Risk Governance framework. This includes model validation, control, and governance activities: initial model validation and periodic review, risk rating of models, model performance review, front-to-back model governance and controls.

Your experience and skills :

You have:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (possible backgrounds include finance, economics, business administration)
  • several years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in a regulated environment such as Risk Management, Audit, or Finance
  • previous exposure to risk or valuation models in a financial institution (experience with audit or regulatory projects beneficial)
  • excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English
  • conceptual understanding of quantitative and qualitative risk management techniques and financial mathematics
