Institutional Securities Technology (IS Tech) develop and oversee the overall technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the Institutional businesses and enterprise-wide functions. Our clients include Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research and Global Capital Markets as well as Operations, HR and Corporate Services.

Team Profile

The Quantitative and Structured Products (QSP) team is part of the Institutional Securities Group Technology department, and is tasked with building first class automated pricing, trading systems as well as corresponding analytics, servicing key stakeholders in the Equity and Derivatives business Areas.
Asset classes priced and traded include algorithmic indices, stocks, ETFs, baskets, swaps, structured exotic products and other derivatives. Our client base spans many different trading desks across the main trading locations (London, New York, Hong Kong, and Tokyo).

Primary Responsibilities

Morgan Stanley is seeking a strong Java developer to help build out our Quantitative and Structured Products platforms.

You will work closely with fellow Technologists, and our partners in Sales, Trading and Desk Strategists to design, build and support systems, and generally improve automation, performance and time to market for technology changes for this major growth business area for the investment bank.

You will work within a highly focused tech team as part of a global technology department delivering for the main global trading centres. Beyond the delivery for the functional aspects of the systems and business flows, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to improving the technology platform and drive the system towards a more rapid and robust development and deployment model across the tech stack to ultimately help the business sustain high volume and revenue growth.

This is a hands-on role with the expectation to own a change or project all the way from design/inception to delivery in production.

The regional and the global team will support you in getting up to speed with the relevant knowledge areas, business or otherwise, that you will need, and ultimately help you grow your career within an exciting technology group focused at helping the business stay market leaders for years to come.


Required Skills:

Experience in core Java knowledge in a UNIX/Linux environment.

Track record of complete lifecycle management including design, coding and delivery.

Desired Skills:

Experience with Java/GC/Linux OS level debugging/performance tuning.

Angular/JS or .NET/C# development experience is an advantage but not essential.

Experience in testing automation.

Experience in capital markets products, derivatives, market-making and/or FIX e-trading protocol is desirable but can be learnt within the team.

Interest in continuously improving development and release processes productivity (agile/devops)
