Salary circa £90,000 to circa £120,000

UK Flexible (Excluding London) - and we're happy to consider flexible and hybrid working.

Artificial Intelligence and advanced analytics are transforming the way organisations make decisions, drive innovation and deliver for customers. As these models become increasingly important, robust governance and effective oversight are essential.

At Aviva, we're embracing the opportunities AI can unlock while maintaining the highest standards of model risk management. This is an exciting opportunity to join the business at the forefront of AI governance, helping to independently challenge and validate models that influence key business decisions across one of the UK's leading insurers.

A bit about the job

You'll join Aviva's Group Model Validation Centre of Excellence, providing independent oversight and assurance across a range of business-critical models.

Working across advanced analytics, machine learning and AI applications, you'll review and challenge models supporting pricing, reserving, customer insight and operational decision-making. Partnering with model owners, risk specialists and senior stakeholders, you'll assess model performance, governance and regulatory compliance, helping ensure models are robust, reliable and fit for purpose.

You'll also contribute to the development of validation methodologies and best practice, helping shape Aviva's approach to governing emerging technologies.

Skills and experience we're looking for

  • Significant experience in model validation, model risk management, model review or quantitative risk-based roles.

  • Strong understanding of advanced analytics, machine learning and AI models, with experience providing independent oversight and challenge.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex quantitative techniques and communicate findings effectively.

  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across analytics, risk, technology and business functions.

  • Qualified actuary or equivalent quantitative professional experience would be highly desirable. Knowledge of Solvency UK requirements and capital modelling would be advantageous.

Why join Aviva?

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of responsible AI and advanced analytics within a business committed to innovation, customer outcomes and sustainable growth.

You'll be part of a team that:

  • provides independent challenge on some of Aviva's most critical analytical models

  • sits at the forefront of AI and advanced analytics governance

  • works closely with senior leaders and technical experts across the business

  • encourages continuous learning and professional development

  • influences best practice and strategic decision-making across the organisation

At Aviva, we're investing in our people, technology and analytical capabilities, creating an environment where you can develop your expertise, broaden your influence and make a genuine impact.

  • Generous pension scheme - e.g. if you put in 8%, Aviva adds 14%

  • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days

  • Aviva-funded Private Medical Benefit to help you get expert support when you need it

  • Make your money go further - Up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts

  • Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme

  • Brilliantly supportive policies including parental and carer's leave

  • Flexible benefits to suit you, including sustainability options such as cycle to work

  • Make a difference, be part of our Aviva Communities and use your 3 paid volunteering days to help others

  • We take your wellbeing seriously with lots of support and tools
