Main purpose of the role: BGC Partners is offering a brilliant opportunity for graduates to start a career as a Graduate Broker through our graduate programme.
Starting in August 2020 this 12 Month rotational programme will give you an in depth experience of multiple asset classes, within the company. The role will enable a highly motivated individual to gain hands on experience of how the desks function, what is required in the role as a Junior Broker and will allow you to gain a comprehensive understanding of a range of products and asset classes.
During the programme you will be required to undertake and pass your CISI: Capital Market exams. Being Securities, UK Financial Regulation and Derivatives.
Core activities: After a comprehensive technical training plan; giving you all of the required knowledge to be an effective Broker, you will join a rotation scheme giving you comprehensive exposure to multiple asset classes. These include Credit, Interest Rates, Foreign Exchange, ETFs, Equities and Commodities. As part of the rotation you will gain exposure to the culture of not only BGC Partners but also their subsidiary firms including Aurel, RP Martin & GFI Group. After successful completion of the rotation scheme you will be given the opportunity to apply for a permanent position on the available desk and firm.
As a Graduate Broker your key responsibilities on the desk will cover the following:
• Assisting the team by calculating prices
• Recording brokerage
• Interacting with customers
• Attending and contributing to team meetings to develop your knowledge of the
marketplace relevant to your specific desk.
As a valued member of the desk, you will be given the opportunity to liaise and build the relationships with our existing client base and new customers alike. The exposure you're granted will extend through London and the rest of the world. To succeed in this role you will need to be able to work in a team, think quickly under pressure, be able to build long term relationships both internally and externally and have a head for numbers.
