Head of Managed Services - SaaS
R3 is an enterprise blockchain software firm working with a broad ecosystem of more than 300 members and partners across multiple industries from both the private and public sectors to develop on Corda, our open-source blockchain platform, and Corda Enterprise, a commercial version for enterprise usage.

Our Corda platform is already being used in industries from financial services to healthcare, shipping, insurance and more. It records, manages, executes institutions' financial agreements in perfect synchrony with their peers, creating a world of frictionless commerce.
Corda has seen widespread adoption amongst more than 300 partners of R3 as their distributed ledger platform of choice. This is based on a unique data sharing model which brings the benefits of blockchain to managing agreements between parties, while preserving the privacy of transactions. One of our observations from the last 3 years of project implementation is that innovative startups building on Corda want to get to "market fit" with their applications as soon as possible, without having to worry about managing heterogenous on-premises deployments, or building a 24/7 operational team. We believe offering a cloud-based, SAAS model for Corda will help them do this, by being able to focus on their application and their business network of participants.
Because of this R3 is evaluating and intends to build a SAAS implementation of Corda. This is an amazing "greenfield" opportunity within an extremely well-funded startup. While we always say at R3 that the future is what we make it, and we write our own rules, it is especially true for this opportunity, since the SAAS model has not been implemented here before, and no-one is going to second-guess your decisions.
Day to day responsibilities include:
Design:Design pretty much from scratch a Software-as-a-Service (SAAS) implementation of Corda.
SAAS implementation Product Roadmap Owner. As our resident expert in the SAAS space you will own our partner strategy along with the positioning of the product offering. You will partner with sales, marketing and our partner team to drive this. You will use your comprehensive decision making skills to solve the complex and high impact decisions needed to build the SAAS implementation of Corda.
Leadership.Responsibility to drive the outcomes which shall shape the outcome of Corda Managed Services. This will involve working with directly with our full range of customers, from our "entrepreneurs-in-residence", launching brand new businesses on Corda, to world-famous industry leaders in the finance, insurance, trade, telecoms and healthcare industries. You will focus on a blend of tactical and strategic matters and will address the complex challenges of building a product functionality from scratch.
Strategy Development: Using your well honed analytical and decision making skills, you will shape complex solutions to a complex environment. We are looking for someone who loves to lead on this greenfield opportunity.
Team Management. You will have the opportunity to hire, build and develop a team around you who will scale the product to its continued success.
Influence: You will operate as a key advisor to clients both internally to R3 and to external clients.
Product owner. You will ensure your product is delivered on time and meets the needs of our stakeholders. You will create a long-term roadmap to showcase our leadership and get consensus on the product direction both internally and externally.
Stakeholder ownership. Own the relationships for your product with our various field facing teams including any commitments to features that must be delivered against.
Expertise: Utilising your depth and breadth of expertise across industry, you shall have deep rooted expertise that has enabled you to put together a roadmap offering a clou-dbased SAAS model before. You will also use your deep technical skills to build, grow, shape and educate peers, colleagues and Exco members.
Innovate. You shall devise ways to capture and generate ideas that may exist outside the immediate view of the stakeholders to drive the broad, revolutionary capabilities of a cloud-based SAAS model to innovate on behalf of our stakeholders. You will temper this desire for innovation with being able to analyse, synthesise and deliver to the overall R3 organisational goals.
Delivery. Work with the Program Management team to establish a detailed delivery schedule and take accountability for on-time delivery.
Education. Working with our customer facing teams and education lead, you will ensure our internal and external are educated the functionality, roadmap and broad capabilities of the product.
Analytics. Establish, track and continually adjust the products and network services based on a designed feedback loop and experiments. Establish and drive KPIs related to the product. Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience in designing, building and operating SAAS solutions, based on an earlier career in engineering or technology; you'll be expected to bring your previous successes and failures (and you will have made a few!) to bear, to accelerate our SAAS delivery.
- A strong understanding of blockchain systems and topologies - but this is less important that understanding SAAS models.
- Evidence of intellectual curiosity and ability, whether through study at a world-class institution, or through continued self-development.
- Experience in building a company or well-defined business from scratch.
- Possess the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with our Legal, Sales, Engineering, Professional Services, Network Operations, Customer Support and Quality Assurance teams.
- A pragmatic perfectionist, who is able to set high standards, but learn by doing.
- You'll be a thought-leader but also a facilitator and collaborator; you're passionate about your work and happy to inspire others to run fast.
