We now need an Investment Governance Officer to support the transformation and the future growth of the business within the Asset Management function, so it can support Canada Life’s Individual and Wealth businesses as well as other Great West group companies through the management of their general account portfolios, and providing collective fund solutions to third party customers in both Europe and North America.

Job summary

To provide support to the Head of Investment Governance to ensure an effective and appropriate compliance monitoring programme for Canada Life Investments. This includes regular monitoring to ensure adherence with applicable regulations, investment policy and client mandates and provide reporting of this to relevant stakeholders.

To provide guidance to Canada Life Investments on existing regulation and provide support during the implementation of new regulation, including providing review and sign off for financial promotion material for Canada Life Investments.

To support Canada Life Investments to ensure effective risk management in line with the risk management framework.

What you’ll do

• To ensure the effective operation of a compliance monitoring programme for Canada Life Investments via the undertaking of regular monitoring activities. This is to ensure adherence with applicable regulations including but not limited to the FCA Collective Investment Scheme Sourcebook, Conduct of Business Sourcebook, Systems and Controls, Market Abuse Regulation, MiFID II requirements, prudential requirements that apply to investment management firms as well as applicable overseas regulation.
• As a result of this monitoring, to provide regular reporting to key stakeholders. Key stakeholders include CLAM clients as well as relevant Working Groups and Committee’s.
• Regular monitoring also includes providing oversight of sub-advisor relationships.
• To support Canada Life Investments to ensure effective risk management in line with the risk management framework.
• To monitor adherence of group company mandates under the management of Canada Life Investments in relation to their Investment Policy Statements.
• To support this adherence, ensuring the effective operation of a pre-trade compliance control environment within the Order Management System. This includes the on-going development and writing of pre-trade rules to ensure compliance with investment policy and mandates.
• To provide guidance to Canada Life Investments on existing regulation and provide support during the implementation of new regulation. This includes effecting required enhancements to the compliance monitoring programme in response to new regulation.
• To provide review and compliance sign-off of financial promotion material generated for Canada Life Investments in line with regulatory requirements contained in the FCA Conduct of Business Sourcebook.

Who you are

• Experience in an investment management firm.
• Working knowledge of regulations impacting investment management firms.
• Technical knowledge and experience of the regulatory and risk management frameworks.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to deliver under tight time pressure
• Self-motivated, well organised, pragmatic and able to perform tasks independently

Qualifications

• Degree desirable
• Investment administration or management qualification
• Professional qualification desirable
