Platform Operations Engineer

Software Trading House located in central London is looking for a Platform operations engineer with a background in Linux and Windows systems.

You will be responsible for the smooth running and stability of their client and internal systems infrastructure, investigating and resolving issues as they arise while thinking of ways to reduce common problems and monitoring critical systems.

You will have the following experience:

  • 4 - 8 years of experience in an operational environment
    • At least 4 years of operational experience in physical and logical server platforms
    • At least 2 years of direct experience with ITIL or another similar best-practice governance model
  • Experience in a financial industry support role preferred
  • Self-starter with a drive to develop own skills and knowledge
  • Experience with Linux and Windows
  • RHCE Certified or equivalent
  • Experience with monitoring systems to configuration level e.g. Nagios, SolarWinds
  • Experience working on bare metal servers in a service provider environment or a large NOC - preferable
  • Experience with HP, Dell and/or Lenovo hardware and relevant systems management software
  • Experience supporting JVM/.Net based applications
  • Experience scripting in Bash, Python, Ruby, and/or Perl
