Our client is looking for a Senior Risk Manager with solid experience managing risk across complex Defence projects and programmes. You'll need a strong grasp of risk frameworks like ISO31000, APM or MoR, and hands-on experience with Quantitative Risk Analysis techniques. Apply now!
Working Patterns and location - Hybrid - 3 days on site per week
Key responsibilities
• Lead teams of risk professionals across complex, large-scale defence projects and programmes.
• Design and implement tailored risk management processes aligned to best practice frameworks.
• Act as the risk subject matter expert on major projects, advising senior stakeholders.
• Manage QSRA and QCRA activities and interpret outputs to focus project effort effectively.
• Facilitate risk workshops with subject matter experts to identify and update project risks.
• Maintain risk registers and quality control of risk data and reporting across programmes.
• Coach and train clients and junior team members in risk management practices.
• Drive continuous improvement in risk and project controls processes to benefit clients.
Skills & experience
• Proven experience managing risk across multiple complex projects or programmes.
• Strong knowledge of risk frameworks including ISO31000, APM, Orange Book and IPA.
• Hands-on experience with Quantitative Risk Analysis using Monte-Carlo simulation techniques.
• Ability to define, improve and implement risk management approaches from the ground up.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail in risk data and reporting.
• Confident communicator able to present complex risk insights clearly to senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading and mentoring small teams of risk or project controls professionals.
• Ability to travel to client sites across the region - a UK driving licence is essential.
The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:
• Familiarity with risk tools such as ARM, Predict!, Risk Controller, riskHive or Xactium.
• Practical experience with QRA software such as Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk or Safran.
• Experience integrating risk management with other Project Controls disciplines.
• A recognised risk qualification such as APM Risk Certificate Level 2, IRM or MoR.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and their application in a Defence or infrastructure setting.
