Overview of the Department / Section:
Corporate Technology is responsible for the operation, development and support of all applications across all areas of the business. Corporate Technology ensures IT strategy; architecture and solutions are aligned to business requirements. Within Corporate Technology, the Infrastructure group manages the day to day running of the technologies which underpin the business systems and focused teams within this portfolio manage the day to day health, support and future direction of each specialist area.
The responsibility of the Grid Computing team is to provide a stable performant High Performance Computing and Azure Batch platform for the Front Office Systems applications. This includes liaising with the server platform teams who support the underlying on-premise hardware, and the cloud engineering team who oversee the Azure platform.
In addition to the day to day responsibilities, a major focus for the year will be the upgrade of the HPC platform, exploring the use of other Grid computing solutions, the use of Linux nodes for workloads, and increasing automation to reduce the hands-on management.
