Monthly, run and prepare the expense budgets and limits for retail, institutional, hedge and offshore funds.  Monitor tolerance levels, prepare expense flux analysis and raise any issues to the Supervisor.  Identify and resolve exceptions noted in the budgets.   Must be able to work independently with excellent time management skills.  Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.  Fund Accounting or Corporate Accounting experience preferred.  Proficiency in MS Excel required, intermediate to advanced skill level.  Detail oriented.

Primary responsibilities:

Budgeting: Compile all expense budget information and input it into summary budget files.   Update Fund Summaries for expense payments, expense budget updates and assets.  Review expense adjustments and analyze changes needed to the budget.  Present budget to Supervisor for review and approval.  Review year to date expenses and analyze expense impacts to the funds.

Expense Review:  Analyze fund expense trends across the fund complex and similar funds for reasonability.   Review and recommend changes to daily accruals based upon expense flux analysis.   Respond to inquiries from Accounting Oversight on expense accruals.  Monitor past due bills and follow up on open invoices.  Review payments made by the funds and question outliers.  Validate large expense adjustments.  Provide expense limit monitors to Corporate Accounting.  Respond to Audit and Fund Reporting expense inquiries.  Assist with expense projections for new funds or fund changes.

Provide reporting for various expense trends (postage, printing, custody etc.) as requested.  Coordinate 529 expense payment process with Corporate Accounting.  Review expense calculations by Corporate Accounting.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 1 to 3 years of prior work experience
