TIAA is seeking a Director of Global Network Engineering to support their enterprise. This is a highly visible position which will have responsibility for planning, implementing and managing the global enterprise network. This role will develop the strategy, roadmap creation/execution and technical implementation data network services. In addition, will partner with our Global Network Operations, the IT Support team, information security and other stakeholders to resolve critical network related issues that impact business operations.  

This position owns the design, engineering and implementation for network services that include the global Wide Area Network (WAN), Data Centers, and Local Area Networks (LAN) to include Wi-Fi, telecom circuits, network security devices and remote access technologies in support of our global workforce. The ideal candidate will have experience with Cisco products, data centers, networks, firewalls, SDN, WAN, and LAN.

This is an exciting time to join our organization. This position will be the driver to plan and execute the network aspects for the IT Transformation programs for Multi-Cloud connectivity and for the Nuveen Global expansion. In addition, will serve as a thought leader and advisor and be expected to collaborate extensively with other stakeholders in order to design solutions that meet the needs of business and customers. This position will be located in Charlotte, NC.


  • Lead the Global Network technology roadmap, design, and implementation with a key focus on redundancy, flexibility and stability to deliver services with minimal downtime
  • Manage the related budget planning
  • Manage a team of network leads while mentoring on best practices, technology and adoption
  • Define and execute a global workforce support strategy that enables our people to be productive 7x24 regardless of geography
  • Participate in developing operational metrics, participate in service reviews, continually improving your service

  • Define and execute a global workforce support strategy that enables our people to be productive 7x24 regardless of geography
  • Manage resources and maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing; such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, security devices, etc.
  • Research new network technologies and prototype solutions that can be leveraged to decrease costs and increase performance
  • Execute POCs and feasibility studies to validate next-gen product concepts and technologies leveraging results to guide business and technology decisions
  • Drive a service management discipline that is focused on increased automation and optimized service delivery
  • Execute service delivery aspects to include patching, upgrades and work methods that will assist to sustain and optimize the environment to ensure that is it designed, protected and managed effectively
  •  Comfortable working in a global group environment
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert in all matters concerning enterprise network design, installation, and maintenance
  • Work collaboratively with vendors and specialists on advanced network, security and wireless solutions
  • Develop test plans, implementation plans and project timelines for various projects
  • Oversight of production support issues, triage, and engagement with multiple IT teams

Qualifications: Required:
  • Ten (10) years experience performing work in the design, development, configuration, and implementation of enterprise networks with diverse solutions from multiple vendors in a large enterprise and global scale
  • Three (3) years experience managing and motivating teams
  • Demonstrated experience in the following system and network technologies: Cisco routers, firewalls and switches, network monitoring; Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls; F5 network products
  • Experience managing the related budget
  • Experience identifying, prioritizing and solving complex network-related problems in a complex and dynamic environment
  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience working in a financial services organization
