Main purpose of the role:

The Role of the DCM MAC's Engineer.
This involves reacting to MACS (Moves, Adds,& Changes) New Office Builds, New & Old Network, Voice, WINTEL, UNIX, SAN & Market Data Equipment to be installed within the SER or CER Rooms, Updating of ITRACS Data Centre Management Software. (Training Will be given)

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation of new hardware in cabinets within the SER's within the Offices
• Cabling support for all new patching and connectivity requests
• Allocation of cabinet space within the Office SER's
• Cabling infrastructure faults / raising new QSM requests
• Cabling support for all Office moves, add change
• Providing Technical Support for Trading / Non Trading environment
• Installation of cabling from the Telco cabinets to the relevant hardware cabinets
• Attendance of Project team meetings / preparation of detailed minutes
• Attendance of management meetings , providing technical support and documentation
• Overseeing of all new cabling infrastructure installations within the Data Centre and new offices
• Organisation for the delivery of materials to site / documentation
• Arranging security clearance / access for site visits, for visitors and third party vendors
• Liaising with Cabling infrastructure third party Vendors
• Administration of the iTRACS Data Base, which enables us to accurately monitor all hardware and connectivity within the Data Centres and offices within the EMEA and Asia. There is currently an on-going Project to audit / re-patch / label all cabling within the SER's / CER'S at Bank Street and 1 Churchill Place and update on ITRACS

Skills/Experience Required:

• Terminating of b oth copper & fibre patch panels
• Planning & Organisation Skills
• Understanding of basic Microsoft Suite applications
• Problem Solving Skills
• Communication Skills (Face to face, email & telephone)
• Good Time Management & Prioritising Skills
• Able to :

• work well under pressure
• go above & beyond when building new offices or Data Centres
• be Alert when working out of normal working hours
• work well within a team environment

Systems Used:

Systems: Castle Rock, Geist Rack Net, Avocent Terminal Servers.

Applications : Microsoft Suite, AUTOCAD, iTRACS, Geist RACKNET, CastleRock (snmpc), Dameware, MS Project, iTRACS.

Good people skills are invaluable when both liaising with Support Teams and/or 3 rd Party companies. Being personable, confident and structured in your approach to things (well organised) are all necessary to perform the job to the high standard expected.
