Power and Gas Quantitative Strategist

New York Based

 

This role is with an award winning Fintech firm, which is currently at the technological forefront in their development of state of the art financial tools and infrastructure. Since this firm is still in the early stages of its development, in joining now, you will have an opportunity to be a key employee and help build out the businesses infrastructure. Similarly, you will also have the chance to work with, and learn from, some of the leading developers within the industry - in a highly collaborative environment, as well as to provide your input on a number of well-established and newly incepted Greenfield projects.

 

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Building out support for the Power and Gas platform, as well as working on constructing middle and front-office financial tools
  • Developing data algorithms, and working heavily with the commodities Quantitative team
  • Liaising with clients, as well a other members of the Quantitative and development teams
  • Working primarily with Commodities - and more specifically Power and Gas
  • Providing ideas, and feedback to team members, to aid in further developing the platform

 

 

Required skills and experience:

 

  • An advanced degree in a quantitative subject such as Mathamatics, Software Engineering, Computer Science,
  • Programming skills: Python and C++ and Familiarity with Unix and shell commands
  • Familiarity in data analysis – knowledge of Python data analysis eco system such as Pandas, numpy, scipy. Database knowledge – sqlalchemy, sql. Familiarity with of distributed programming.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies. 
  • Strong communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English
  • Should be comfortable with standard data algorithms and structures
  • 2-5 years professional developer experience
