Senior Specialist Developer - Python/Systems Administration

TSG is building next generation scalable, efficient data center as a service using the latest innovation infrastructure. Building on top of the cloud deployments in BNY Mellon, we are aggressively automating and bridging the green field cloud with the existing virtual computing environments.

This team is responsible for the engineering, development and the deployment of an application that will take inventory of infrastructure configuration information across the entire distributed devices at the bank. The selected candidate will be expected to provide level 3 support, working system support personnel to debug applications or installation issues on all devices. This will require resolving any issues with the agent from running standard operational steps to writing and submitting application level code corrections to the software lifecycle development cycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Senior Application Developers to gain experience in the application code and requirements.

  • Interact with Systems Operations and Senior Application Developers to resolve any issues with the application.

  • Coordinate with System Administrators and Project Managers to ensure the full deployment of the application.

  • Debug and resolve any failed installations.

  • Report and document any problem issues back to the development team.

Sr. Specialist Developer->> Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required.

  • Eight to ten (8-10) years of experience in software development is required.

  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

  • Experienced Python Programming skills.

  • Strong foundational knowledge of infrastructure information.

  • Basic Systems Administration experience.

  • General understanding of Networking.

  • Experienced Python programming skills to help develop and support a multiplatform agent daemon that will take inventory and submit to a web API is preferred.

  • Experienced C# and .net programming skills to help develop and support a multiplatform agent daemon that will take inventory and submit to a web API is preferred.

  • Highly efficient coding skills are preferred.

  • Knowledge of Jenkins, GIT and Jira is preferred.
