ABOUT THE TEAM & ROLE

Our U.S. Renewable Energy Tax team is one of STX's fastest-growing desks, connecting renewable energy developers with corporate and institutional tax credit buyers. Having closed significant amounts in tax credit transactions to date, we bring unmatched insight into pricing, regulatory changes, opportunity sourcing , and deal structuring. We speak developer. We speak investor. We know what it takes to get these deals done-and we're just getting started.

This is a high-impact business development role, focused on scaling STX's tax credit platform. You'll source new business, build relationships with both buyers and developers, and help drive transactions from origination through close.

Ideal candidates bring strong sales DNA, financial acumen, experience in renewable energy & financial markets, and the hunger to build one of STX's fastest-growing desks.

As the Renewable Energy Tax desk works together with other product desks, you'll automatically gain exposure to STX's other environmental market capabilities- like renewable energy credits (RECs) and renewable natural gas (RNG) and learn how to position these solutions to clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Originate and develop new business within the renewable energy transferable tax credit market (ITC, PTC, 45Z, 45X), owning and actively managing a pipeline from sourcing through closing
  • Build and deepen relationships with Fortune 1000 corporates, financial institutions, private equity sponsors, and infrastructure funds, while engaging both tax credit buyers and supply-side stakeholders through strategic outreach and ongoing advisory
  • Source high-quality tax credit opportunities by proactively engaging renewable energy developers, project finance sponsors, and infrastructure investors
  • Structure tailored transaction solutions and lead deal execution and negotiations from term sheet through closing, coordinating cross-functionally with Legal, Operations, Trading, Supply Origination, and Corporate Advisory teams
  • Provide clients with market intelligence, pricing guidance, and regulatory insights, while developing high-quality client-facing materials (pitch decks, market updates, transaction summaries, buyer-specific analyses)
  • Drive revenue growth by identifying whitespace opportunities through market analysis and creative product positioning, representing the firm at industry conferences and client workshops, contributing thought leadership, and ensuring seamless client onboarding and lifecycle management

KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree (e.g. in Business, Finance, Tax)
  • 2-6 years of experience in a client-facing role within Accounting, structured finance, consulting, or capital markets (Big 4, advisory, or sell-side experience strongly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of renewable energy markets, project finance, tax equity structures, or transferable tax credit mechanics under the Inflation Reduction Act
  • Proven track record of originating or supporting closed transactions, with strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and market research capabilities, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights and develop high-quality client materials (presentations, one-pagers, transaction memos)
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and sales enablement tools (e.g., ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, email sequencing), with a general comfort using automation or light scripting to improve workflows
  • Based or willing to relocate to New York.
