What's the role
The Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of Shell Haven Terminal. Working as part of a shift team, the operator ensures the receipt, storage and shipment of petroleum products while maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) and operational excellence.
The role involves operating terminal equipment, conducting field inspections, responding to alarms and emergencies, supporting maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with Shell standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.

What's the role

The role involves operating terminal equipment, conducting field inspections, responding to alarms and emergencies, supporting maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with Shell standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.
What you'll be doing
Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)
- Demonstrate visible commitment to Shell's Goal Zero aspirations.
- Comply with all HSSE procedures, policies and life-saving rules.
- Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks and safety observations.
- Monitor and control major accident hazards and critical safety barriers.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.
- Support environmental protection measures and pollution prevention activities.
Terminal Operations
- Operate terminal plant, pipelines, tanks, loading facilities and ancillary equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor process conditions and ensure operations remain within approved operating parameters.
- Carry out routine operational checks and inspections.
- Manage product movements, transfers, receipts and exports in accordance with operating procedures.
- Support vessel, pipeline and road loading operations as required.
- Maintain accurate operational records and shift logs.
Asset Integrity & Maintenance Support
- Conduct plant checks to identify defects, leaks or abnormal conditions.
- Raise maintenance work requests and support maintenance activities.
- Participate in equipment isolations and reinstatement activities.
- Assist with testing and verification of safety-critical equipment.
Permit to Work & Operational Control
- Work within the Permit to Work system and associated control of work processes.
- Prepare plant for maintenance activities through isolation, gas testing and equipment preparation.
- Ensure work activities are conducted safely within authorised permit conditions.
Emergency Response
- Actively participate in the terminal emergency response organisation.
- Respond to alarms, incidents and abnormal operating conditions.
- Support incident command arrangements and emergency drills.
- Maintain competence in emergency response duties assigned to the role.
- Work collaboratively within the shift team and wider terminal organisation.
- Contribute to operational improvement initiatives.
- Share knowledge and best practices to improve terminal performance.
- Support the development of less experienced team members.

- FLBM - Dock Operator, Product handling, Emergency Response & Asset Management.
- Strong commitment to safety and operational discipline.
