The Role
This position sits within the financial reporting and client reporting function and serves as a key liaison between clients, actuarial teams, and finance stakeholders. The role is responsible for validating client-reported data, preparing regulatory and financial reports, and ensuring the accuracy of reporting across multiple frameworks. The successful candidate will play an important role in identifying reporting risks, analyzing business trends, and supporting audit and reporting initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze client-reported reinsurance data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with treaty requirements.
- Investigate reporting discrepancies and communicate directly with clients to resolve financial and operational issues.
- Prepare and review quarterly financial reporting packages under Statutory, IFRS, and Solvency II reporting frameworks.
- Perform variance analysis and explain period-over-period movements to finance and actuarial stakeholders.
- Partner with actuarial, accounting, and reporting teams to validate financial results and improve reporting quality.
- Support external audits through the preparation of workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor reporting trends, identify potential financial risks, and recommend process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Contribute to reporting efficiency initiatives and support ongoing operational excellence projects.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 3-5 years of insurance or reinsurance experience, with health insurance experience required.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, insurance accounting, analytics, and reinsurance concepts.
- Experience working with Statutory, IFRS, and/or Solvency II reporting environments.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience managing and analyzing large datasets.
- Exposure to Hyperion or similar financial reporting systems is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance, actuarial, and client-facing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Self-motivated professional capable of working independently while taking ownership of deliverables.
