If you're moving jobs in Ireland and you haven't succeeded in negotiating a sign-on bonus, then you may have missed something.

Recruitment firm Brightwater says sign-on bonuses equivalent to 10-20% of basic salaries have made a comeback in Ireland for the first time since 2007. They're not that widespread: only 25% of people are getting them, but still.

Financial services is one of the areas where Brightwater says sign-on bonuses have become most noticeable. The others are professional services and IT.

Earlier this year, Brightwater released a salary survey which identifying where most of the hiring is in Ireland's financial services industry.

"Candidates with credit restructuring, asset restructuring, compliance and operational/credit risk experience are still in high demand," it said. "This is driving professionals to pursue courses in these areas. There has also been an increase in the requirement for people with fraud and collections experience."

Brightwater says a credit risk analyst working in Dublin can earn €35-50k in salary. A fraud risk manager in Dublin can earn €55-80k.
