BMO banker Bo Brown bounces to Bank of America
While managing directors (MDs) in are being let go, others are keeping their jobs – and even finding new and bigger ones. It seems to help if you’re in M&A, and it seems to help if there’s a health dose of alliteration at play.

Bo Brown joined Bank of America in New York this month, as a managing director (MD) in its M&A team. He joined the firm from Canadian bank BMO, where he was head of its industrials M&A team in New York. Brown spent three and a half years at BMO.
Brown was at Citi for two and a half years before BMO as head of sponsor sell-side M&A, but he started his career at Credit Suisse. He was with the firm for 16 years and was global co-head of sell-side M&A before leaving.
The M&A businesses at both BofA and BMO did well in 2025, but one did clearly better. According to LSEG, formerly known as Refinitiv, BofA grew its market share of American M&A by 6% between 2024 and 2025, while BMO grew its market share by just 0.7%. 2026 has started less strong – 2026 Q1 market share at both declined on 2025’s Q1, with BMO’s falling by 3% and BofA’s by 10%.
