JPMorgan building out a new data analytics division in Singapore under Deloitte partner
JPMorgan's quest to adopt AI has been relentless in the last few years, but now it's increasingly focused on doing so in Asia. It just brought in a new chief analytics officer who will be building out a data analytics team in the region.

Gautam Gorki started work at JPMorgan in Singapore this week, joining from big four firm Deloitte, where he was head of data and AI for financials services institutions in Southeast Asia. Prior to that, he was an executive director at Singaporean bank DBS, where he created and led its analytics centre of excellence; the bank has been using AI to cut up to 4,000 contract workers since the start of last year.
JPMorgan's data team in APAC today is thought to be focused more on data governance and management, in which teams ensure its quality and manage it like an asset. Gorki's new team will be focused on embedding agentic and generative AI into JPMorgan's Asian businesses using that data. The team will initially be based in Singapore, but could expand further in the future due to the heavily nuanced nature of APAC markets.
JPMorgan's AI efforts are currently focused in the US, where it has made multiple other senior hires already this year. It hired Ronald Jansen, head of UBS' AI lab, in February, and hired AI scientist Lambert Mathias from Meta's Reality Labs last month.
