Multiple portfolio managers said to be leaving BlueCrest, including 26-year-old star
It's been a difficult year for macro hedge funds, and a particularly difficult September. Against this backdrop, various portfolio managers appear to have left BlueCrest Capital Management, for reasons that are unclear.

BlueCrest didn't respond to multiple requests to comment for this article. Nor did the portfolio managers concerned, but we understand that around 10 people have either left recently or are leaving.
The departures are thought to include Ben Turner, the 26 year-old ex-Barclays sterling rates trader who became a BlueCrest partner on May 1st. Turner is still registered at BlueCrest with the FCA, however. The FCA Register shows Robert Robinson, who joined from Hudson River Trading, leaving the UK entity on September 25th. Others, like Tom Bowden (now at Wellington) and Ankur Aneja left earlier this year. Ben Atlas left and went to ExodusPoint.
The departures from BlueCrest may be partly voluntary, but come after top macro portfolio managers at multiple major funds are thought to have had a challenging September. This includes, but is by no means limited to, Taula Capital Management.
BlueCrest had 46 London partners last time it filed accounts. It paid them an average of £959k each in the year to March 2025.
Many of those leaving are thought to have come from BlueCrest's rates trading business, which is run by Joseph Walkrush from Miami.
